One of the most frequently asked questions I get asked is, “how did you get into tech?”. I was born in Malaysia. Growing up in Kuala Lumpur in an Indian household, my fascination with technology started from a young age. I was surrounded by family members who were engineers who would often talk about new technologies and their impact on society. However, I never truly understood just what they meant until I studied electrical engineering in university in Singapore. During this time, I was lucky enough to get admitted into a prestigious program that sent me to Sweden to work in an early stage tech startup. In Sweden, my friends and I organized a tech conference. It turned out to be the first conference Spotify representatives spoke at, where they introduced the company to institutional investors (and to the world!).
If only I knew about investing back then!! At this point, my entrepreneurship journey began – and it never stopped. I am very fortunate to have lived in multiple countries and had the opportunity to work, invest, and advise hundreds of tech startups. My goal in the decades to come is to continue leveraging my operating experience to support founders at the earliest stage.
